Lyme Related Arthritis

Beware of Ticks. Lyme Disease bites.I still have pain in almost all my joints and have problems walking without hobbling around like I’m 300 years old, but now I am really having problems with joint stiffness from the Lyme disease, too. Last night, I was helping my niece with her math work. She’s learning to add and was really struggling, so I suggested that we make the two numbers and count on our fingers, which is something we take for granted, right? Well, I did the five with no problem - just held up one hand. Then I went to make a 3 with my other hand. I couldn’t. Both the last two fingers just won’t bend. I guess it is back to the doctor again.

I contacted Lyme disease in February, 2007, have gone through 2 series of antibiotics and still feel the joint pain today. The worst part is that there is no doctor that can definitively tell me that my tiredness, pains/dizziness etc are still from Lyme’s or that it is something else. Nice to know there are others that understand! I hate to go back on another series of meds unless I have to. Trying to find alternative ways to cope..

    Arlene,
I know how you feel about taking meds. I can’t decide whether all the antibiotic side effects are worse than those of the disease. On the other hand, I am unable to work two days in a row without crippling pain. Keep me updated on how it goes for you.

I hope this isn’t a stupid question but have your tried the holistic route? I got very sick with Rheumatoid Arthritis in Dec. 2003…. it affected every joint in my body. I was in extreme agony. Could barely walk. I took Bextra for about 4 months until it was taken off the market, but was experimenting, at the same time, with acupuncture, herbs and supplements. My SED rate was 121. It is now normal (between 1 and 7) and I am probably 98% pain-free. I take a slew of herbs etc. but frankly I don’t care. My rheumatologist is amazed at how well I was doing, after he predicted my hands etc. would be deformed if I didn’t take Enbrel, which I refused to take.
He now tells other patients about me.

Something to consider, if you already haven’t.

    Best of luck.

It definitely isn’t a stupid question and is something I am considering. I do take a supplement that helps with joints, but haven’t consulted a holistic professional yet. I’m glad it helped you so much!
