About Lyme Link

Why am I blogging about Lyme Disease? Well, I paid a high price for gardening this spring – I got Lyme Disease. I never saw the tick that bit me and was under the impression that I just had some sort of spring virus/allergy combination that was making me sicker than normal. I could barely make it through school each day and I was only teaching half days. Then, I got this weird bullseye rash on my side on the Friday before my birthday. By Monday, when I could get an appointment to see my doctor, I was much sicker and had bullseyes popping up all over. My brother-in-law said he couldn’t believe I loved Target so much that I ran out and got a tattoo. (And you’re wondering why I needed to start a blog?) The bad news is that even after I started taking medication, I haven’t bounced right back. In fact, I had to take a leave from my other part time job and am going back to the doctor almost two months later.

So, I am writing this blog as a Lyme Disease advocate. That means I’m telling you what I’ve experienced, sharing stories from a few friends and offering you my virtual support. I cannot give medical advice and anything I’ve shared should not be used instead of medical care. Please see your doctor immediately if you think you have Lyme Disease. And if you are living in the United States, don’t have insurance and your child may have Lyme Disease, get help from the Lyme Disease Association (This link opens up a word document that includes information on who is eligible and an application.)
